Architecture intertwines with many disciplines, including art and technology. Beyond creating and playing with shapes and colours, standardised codes exist for pipe marking within UNE-1603 and DIN-2403 norms, aiming to identify usage and fluid flow direction in projects.
Art and High-Tech in Gonzalez & Jacobson Architecture’s installations form an inseparable and prevailing combination.
To facilitate pipe marking, DIN-2403 specifies the following colour codes for each pipe or conduit:
Water: Green for drinking or potable water pipes.
Wastewater: Black for sewage.
Fire extinguishing: Red for conduits.
Telephone installations: Grey.
Electrical installations/acid flow: Orange.
Data transmission network: Dark blue.
Air: Light blue for general installations (not ventilation ducts).
Ventilation ducts – air passage: White.
