Rodolfo Amieva Jacobson, founding architect of González & Jacobson Architecture, interviewed by Javier Nieto, CEO of Pure Living Properties, Marbella.

Getting to know the representative, enthusiastic and visionary people leading a company that has carved out its niche in the market over time is fascinating. Learning about their beginnings, often by chance or in pursuit of a new challenge and opportunity, reveals that they don’t emerge from nothing. Having an idea and the skills to bring it to life requires courage and resilience. Their trajectory is characterized by perseverance, staying true to their philosophy and identity, and a remarkable ability to adapt to change, all of which are key to their success.

We share the introduction and some excerpts from the enriching interview between these two professionals in the real estate and architecture sectors on the Costa del Sol, Malaga.

Rodolfo Amieva: “In Marbella, architecture defines the way of life”

Talking to Rodolfo Amieva is like taking a leisurely journey through more than three decades of Marbella’s history through its architecture: from that city that had not yet foreseen the leap that was to come, to the global premium destination it is today. Rodolfo Amieva, architect and founding partner of González & Jacobson, arrived “by chance,” intending to stay for a short time… and ended up building his life here and shaping much of the new residential language of the Costa del Sol.

In 2025, the firm celebrated its 30th anniversary with institutional recognition from the Marbella City Council, a gesture that encapsulates a trajectory closely linked to the evolution of the city and the Golden Triangle.

Javier Nieto, CEO of Pure Living Properties, speaks with Rodolfo Amieva about vocation, urban transformation, how international clients have changed, the return to Andalusian style—with technology and comfort—and why the future of Marbella will inevitably be a blend of the traditional and the global.

Rodolfo, you arrived in Marbella at a pivotal moment in your life and ended up becoming a key figure in residential architecture on the Costa del Sol. Beyond your career, what made you choose this city as a place to live?

My arrival in Marbella was almost by chance. After studying architecture in Mexico and completing postgraduate studies in Madrid, I spent some time working in England. There, talking with an acquaintance from Granada, the idea arose that if there were opportunities for an architect, they would probably be in Marbella. I came intending to stay for a while, get to know Andalusia, and continue my training, but I quickly found work, and the city began to offer me more than just a temporary professional experience.

Over time, Marbella became the center of my life. It wasn’t a premeditated decision, but rather the result of a combination of work, opportunities, and a way of life that suited me from the start.
