This 2026, the Gonzalez & Jacobson architecture studio in Marbella is taking firm steps towards innovation, without forgetting its roots.

It’s not just a shopping center! It’s a tribute to its essence!

Gonzalez & Jacobson Architecture, an architecture studio based in Marbella (Málaga), presents the design concept for a shopping center located in La Cala de Mijas, conceived in a Mediterranean Andalusian architectural style. An ecosystem where cutting-edge technology embraces the traditional design of an Andalusian village, with white streets, light, and freshness intertwined with state-of-the-art architecture to create a unique social meeting point.

The proposal is inspired by the traditional architecture of the Andalusian coast, reinterpreted from a contemporary perspective, integrating white volumes, plays of light and shadow, courtyards, outdoor walkways, and porticoed spaces that foster the relationship between architecture, climate, and environment. The design aims to create a welcoming and accessible retail space, where the user experience is enhanced by fluid pedestrian pathways and outdoor seating areas.

The architectural project pays particular attention to landscape integration, the use of natural materials, and an architectural scale that harmonizes with the urban context of La Cala de Mijas, reinforcing the complex’s Mediterranean identity and its connection to the local environment. The result is a shopping center that combines functionality, character, and tradition, adapted to current needs and aligned with the cultural and climatic values of the Costa del Sol.
