Gonzalez & Jacobson Architecture presents perspectives and plans from the design process of a floating staircase for a luxury villa.
Stairs have evolved into a challenge for imagination, offering infinite variations and shapes. Floating stairs are a popular choice in contemporary design, integrating elegantly with the aesthetic elements of their surroundings. They occupy less space and visually create a sense of openness by minimizing visual barriers.
The featured floating staircase transitions from reinforced concrete with porcelain stoneware treads (basement to ground floor) to a wood and metal structure (ground floor to upper floor). It employs a bracket welded to a side beam, concealed within perimeter walls, achieving the desired floating effect for the steps.
Stairs, whether outdoor or indoor, play a crucial role in home design details. They can appear as sculptural elements integrated into the decoration of a home or residential complex.
