Gonzalez & Jacobson Architecture designs and leads the refurbishment of the viewpoint and Gibraltar cable car station at “The Rock”.

The Marbella-based architecture firm has been developing innovative design concepts for this iconic project for some time.

Their approach aims to provide a tourist experience that is entertaining, educational, sustainable, accessible, safe, and environmentally conscious. The design prioritises biodiversity conservation, coexistence with the macaque population, and minimal visual impact.

The journey will feature large screens displaying varied information, images, and Gibraltar’s history.

The studio of Gibraltar Cable Car is currently studying the placement of info-entertainment elements (audio + video) in the base station’s reception area, with construction estimated to begin in October. (Images attached)

The renovation project of Gibraltar Cable Car draws inspiration from the sky, caves, nature, and sea surrounding this natural setting. These elements will be reflected in all areas (restaurant, café, gift shop, viewpoints) through carefully selected materials and finishes to create unique, magical spaces.
