Gonzalez & Jacobson Architecture presents initial studies for the renovation of an Andalusian-style villa in Estepona. The challenge is to preserve and honour the traditional architecture of the Costa del Sol, Malaga.

When discussing Andalusian architecture and its unique style, one must reference the continuous invasions and artistic movements that have shaped the region throughout history and the lasting impact they have left. Its remarkable ability to absorb, transform, and synthesise has resulted in an architectural reflection that contrasts decorative forms with structural simplicity.

Contemporary Andalusian architecture recaptures several traditional characteristics to maintain this essence in its designs: the use of arches, white and ochre colours, central courtyards, columns, vibrant hydraulic tile floors with geometric or floral motifs, decorative tiles, vaults, and skylights.

Indeed, this renovation project brings joy to the architectural studio of Gonzalez & Jacobson in Marbella. In an era where modernity is at the forefront, reinforcing the style of Mediterranean Andalusian architecture is a return to its roots and the beginnings of architecture on the Costa del Sol.
